Johnstown, PA (July 11, 2007)-The Johnstown Chiefs announced Wednesday that they have agreed to terms with left wing Randy Rowe, who returns for the 20th anniversary season.

The 27-year old native of Burford, Ontario will enter his third year with the organization.  Last season, he played in 34 games with the Chiefs, recording 15 goals and 23 assists, which tied him for second on the team in scoring.  He also served as the team’s co-captain.  In two seasons with the Chiefs, he has 43 goals and 38 assists in 79 games.

“Randy is a guy that will bring some offensive punch to our lineup.  He has shown that he is a top player in this league and will bring veteran leadership on and off the ice as well,” stated Chiefs head coach, Ian Herbers.

Before joining the Chiefs, Rowe played four seasons of junior hockey with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).  During that span, he played in 246 games, scoring 120 goals and 128 assists.  In 2000-01, Rowe had an outstanding season.  He scored 64 goals and 38 assists in 63 games, leading the OHL in goals scored.  After his junior career, Rowe joined the Peoria Rivermen, then a member team in the ECHL, and played there from 2001-02 to 2004-05. While in Peoria, he appeared in 248 games, collecting 93 goals and 110 assists.

“I am excited to be coming back.  I have enjoyed my time in Johnstown the past few years and hope that I can provide some scoring and leadership next year,” said Rowe.

The Chiefs kick off their 20th-anniversary season Oct. 18 at home vs. Wheeling.  Fans don’t forget about the free admission Chiefs fan fest to be held Saturday, August 25 from 12-3 pm at the War Memorial Arena!  New Arrowhead Club season ticket plans are on sale now.  Call the Chiefs office at 814-539-1799 or 1(800) SLAPSHOT for more information.
