Pirates Win Two Straight

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Tom Gorzelanny held slumping Washington to two
runs over seven and a-third innings and Adam LaRoche drove in three
runs in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 7-to-2 win over the Nationals. The
Nationals have lost five straight and eleven of 14. Gorzelanny is
8-and-4.
The Pirates used a six-run second inning to rout Nationals loser
Jason Bergmann, who's 1-and-5.
The Nationals' offense was about as effective as the planned fan
protest by Pirates rooters unhappy with the club's refusal to spend
money to upgrade a team stuck in a 15th consecutive losing season.
Only a few thousand fans, if that, vacated their seats after the
third inning and it appeared most returned quickly.
