Climatological Out Look for January 2013

December seemed like two months weather-wise. We started with record-breaking temperatures and were quite dry. So much so many wondered if another mild winter was ahead. The other foot dropped right after Christmas as a pair of snow storms blanketed Pennsylvania with more than a foot of snow in places. The two storms provided Blue Knob with more natural snow than they received last season!
So for January, the Climate Prediction Center is looking along the lines of what Joe talked about in the Wintercast: a better chance of being milder than seasonal with an equal chance of above and below seasonal precipitation.
