STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - A small winter blast pushed through Central Pennsylvania Friday, starting with rain. As the temperature dropped throughout the day, the rain transitioned to snow and sleet.

Several Centre County school districts sent kids home early in anticipation of wintery weather and a few flights were cancelled out of University Park Airport.

The weather didn't stop folks from making their way to the 22nd Annual Farming for the Future Conference Friday. One farmer said winter storms make growing crops more difficult.

"Well obviously, you have a much lower level of light in the winter time," said Stephen Woodward of Rochester, New York. "Your temperatures are much more challenging. But there are tools you can employ that will enable the process to go forward."

Altoona also saw snow, but accumulations were seen in the higher elevations. Many drivers took their time as the snow fell, but drivers treated the day more like a rainy one as the snow turned to rain.
