Updated: Friday Night, December,  21st
Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo

The snow showers and gusty winds will continue Saturday though the number and intensity will start to diminish later in the day. Additional accumulations will be less than an inch in the valleys east of I-99 to as much as a 2-4 more inches across some of the ridges of the Laurel Highlands. Because of this snow, a winter storm warning continues for Jefferson, Elk and Somerset counties until 7pm Saturday with a winter weather advisory continuing until the same time for Cameron, Clearfield, Cambria and Indiana counties. The second half of the weekend will be calmer with a mix of clouds and sunshine and highs in the 30s. Christmas Eve Day will become mostly cloudy followed by the chance for a little snow, perhaps mixed with rain later Monday into early Christmas Day. This system should be quite weak and should not cause much in the way of travel problems. A stronger storm will bring a wintry mix Wednesday followed by snow showers on Thursday. We'll be able to tell more details on that system as time gets closer.
