Sue Paterno Goes on Katie

STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - Joe Paterno's widow took to national television to defend her husband.

Her appearance on the Katie show came just one day after her family released their own independent investigation of the Freeh Report and the Sandusky Scandal.

Sue Paterno said she had no idea that Jerry Sandusky was capable of the crimes he was convicted of. And if she had, she would have never let him near her kids or grandkids. She told Katie Couric she was physically sickened when she first heard the accusations against Jerry Sandusky.

And that she was initially looking forward to the Freeh Report coming out because she thought it would help her understand how everything happened. But she said she was shocked about what the report had to say about her husband. She said the man who wrote the report clearly did not know anything about her husband.
