DECATUR, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Around 4:15 pm, officials say a woman shot her home care nurse at a home in Decatur Township. This was at a home along Ashland Road.
After she was shot, the nurse tried to drive to a hospital but couldn't make it. She stopped at a home a couple miles down the street and got help. When Decatur Township Police got to the neighbor's home, they found the victim profusely bleeding, but conscious and speaking. She was taken to Altoona Regional Medical Center by ambulance, and is in stable but guarded condition. She underwent emergency surgery to remove the bullet from the left side of her head late Thursday night.
Police say the 26 year old Home Care Nurse was shot in the head after having an argument with her 69 year old patient. After the victim was transported, police surrounded the alleged shooter's home, and convinced her to surrender over the phone. She was arrested without incident. The alleged shooter's name hasn't been released yet, but is facing charges. She was arraigned late Thursday night.
