Former Penn State wrestler and 1988 Olympian Ken Chertow is encouraging the athletes he coaches to fight the International Olympic Committee's decision to cut wrestling from the Games.
Chertow says the dream of making the Olympics helps the wrestlers he trains stay focused on their short term goals.
"I mean only a teeny tiny percentage of the wrestlers are going to get that, but it's good to have a dream, it's good to have role models in front of you," Chertow says. "We as wrestlers, we fight physically and we also fight mentally and we're going to get organized and we're going to go at the IOC to communicate why they should keep wrestling in the Olympics."
Chertow has told his wrestlers to share their stories of how the sport has impacted their lives.
