ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY -  Repair crews from People's Natural Gas have been dealing with a big gas leak in city.

Workers were called to the area of 50th Street and Broad Street on Tuesday evening when the odor of natural gas was reported.  People several blocks away were warned to use caution until the source of the leak could be detected and corrected.

A company spokesperson in Pittsburgh on Wednesday reported that the source of the leak was a twelve inch gas main in the area. Crews were able to vent the leaking gas and remove any danger.  But because the repair job required a significant amount of digging,  company workers expected to be on the scene  for most of Wednesday.
