HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - Five health care companies have submitted bids to purchase Blair County's Valley View Nursing Home, according to Blair County commissioners.

The commissioners in Hollidaysburg publicly reviewed the preliminary offers Tuesday and set a schedule for final negotiations.

Current bids for the Altoona nursing home range from $12.5 million to just over $16 million.

The commissioners have said they expect the next round of bids to be even higher.

By a 2-1 vote the commissioners have voted to sell the home as a way to improve the county's financial condition.

Final bids for the home are due March 11th.

The majority of the commissioners made it clear during their meeting they feel it is necessary to include the Valley View soccer fields in the expected sale of the nursing home.
