Richland Phone Scam

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- A phone scam surrounding the Richland Township Fire Department has police on alert.

"We received a number of calls from residents stating they received a phone call asking to give their credit card information to make a donation to the fire department," said Detective Kevin Gaudlip.  "If you did give out your credit card information you need to call and cancel it right away."

Lieutenant Rob Hudson with the Richland Fire Department said they never solicit money through phone calls; they either show up in person in uniform and or send out a company letter.

"With the fire department we are very specific and identify ourselves and send things out on letter head plus you can always contact our office if you have a question," said Hudson.
