"You just have to honor these people that are losing their lives for us to keep us safe," Louann Rodgers said.
It was a big celebration Sunday as members of the Bellefonte community came together to say 'thank you.'
"My husband was a veteran, my father was a veteran, just to honor all the veterans," Rodgers said.
Veterans from near, and far, honored for their service. "In popular culture, especially our children, are led to think of heroes as people wearing capes," US Representative Glenn Thompson (PA-5) said. "In reality, our heroes are the ones who wear camo and the other uniforms of the United States military."
A hero like Martin Kaschalk.
"I served in the Marine Corps from 1963-1967 in Vietnam," Kaschalk said.
After years of service, he says the best thanks of all, "It's something that's hard to put into words," he said. "The number of guys since then who've followed in our footsteps like we did from WWII, WWI, Korea and everything has transpired. It's just great to see."
