EBENSBURG, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- The Secretary of Education visited a local school district Thursday checking in on a new program that puts teachers to the test.
"This is a tool to help teachers get better like I've never seen before," said Dr. Luke Lansberry, Cambria Elementary School Principal.
Next year a new teacher evaluation process will be mandatory statewide. Central Cambria is test driving the program now.
"This is a model about helping individual teachers improve," said Lansberry.
"Its focused on learning, plus its providing the overall culture and climate that children need to thrive," said Carolyn Dumaresq, Ed. D. Deputy Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education.
State officials toured the districts schools and spoke with teachers who volunteered for the program.
"We're empowering each other to be the best and we owe that to our kids," said Lansberry.
