Crews Prepare for Heavy Wet Snow

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - PennDOT and Red Cross officials are getting ready for wet heavy snow.

Four out of six counties were pre-treated their roads Tuesday. The other two counties still have enough material out on the roads that they're already ready.

PennDOT crews say don't be fooled because it was nice out its going to be a lot different over night and in the morning.

Red Cross officials are warning people to take some extra precaution and have some extra food and water around. And not to over exert yourself shoveling snow. It looks like its going to be a heavy wet snow which means it will take more effort to shovel it away.

PennDOT also has concerns about the type of snow we're going to get.  Their crews will be armed with chainsaws to cut up limbs that the heavy snow could bring down and block roadways.

PennDOT will start monitoring the storm from their command center at midnight.
