Heroin in Our Hometown

"Drugs are a local virus there doesn't seem to be a cure for" said one resident.
"There is no typical drug addict anymore. It is anybody" said Susan Ford of the Clearfield, Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission.
Alcohol is the first drug of choice.
"Heroin is the second and prescription drug use third" she said.
The average age of a heroin user is 18-25.
"As highly addictive as heroin is and potentially fatal absolutely it scares me" she said.
"We actually focus a majority of our prevention on middle school kids because by tenth grade a majority of are already reporting past 30 day use of drugs and alcohol" said Malissa Martino coalition coordinator.
In Jefferson County District Attorney Jeff Burkett is hosting heroin in our hometown. The event will be March 14 from 7:30 - 8:30am and will focus on the influx of heroin in the area and prevention.
