STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - Police are urging folks out trick-or-treating to be especially careful this year.

Folks across Central PA are still cleaning up from hurricane Sandy and police are urging those going out to trick or treat Wednesday to be especially careful.

Children should wear reflective clothing or patches on their costumes and carry a flashlight. Especially be careful for uprooted tree roots or branches that may have fallen during the storm.

Children should walk on the sidewalk, not on the road, when possible. They should walk facing oncoming traffic, and cross streets only at crosswalks, not between cars.

Parents should accompany children on their rounds. If a parent isn't available, someone the parents trust should go with the children.

Parents should report any suspicious activity to local police.
