Locations in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and the surrounding states saw more than a foot of snow from this week's snowstorm, part of the region that was affected by drought for three straight years.
The Kansas Department of Agriculture has said the snowfall will help accelerate the drought's end, but the Climate Prediction Center has predicted below average precipitation in the middle of the U.S.
Some ranchers see the snow and colder temperatures as a double-edged sword, as the cold snow can impact the calving season.
While many are digging out from the snow and more in the forecast, ranchers and farmers are grateful for the moisture on their crops.
