The coldest outbreak since 2009 continues. The flow of cold air into the region continues to bring some clouds and scattered flurries, but the biggest issue continues to be low wind chills. In fact, a wind chill advisory remains in effect for Cameron, Elk, Clearfield, Cambria, Somerset, Indiana, and Jefferson counties into the midday hours on Wednesday. The best way to combat the wind chill is to cover all flesh when outside and wear layers. In this cold pattern, it's also smart to keep over a half tankful of gas in your car, check on the elderly and sick, and don't forget about the pets and make sure you supply fresh water for livestock. Wednesday will be another day with a frigid wind with clouds and some sunshine. There will be scattered flurries and snow showers, and with such low temperatures any snow shower can bring a fresh covering of snow to spots and some slick roads. We'll have a bit of a break on Thursday with morning followed by some sunshine. It will still be very cold despite that sunshine with highs in the teens. A storm system will cut to our south on Friday and looks like it will bring a widespread snowfall to the region. Right now it looks like it will be a light to moderate snowfall but we will know more when time gets closer and we have a better feel for the exact track of the system. There will still be some leftover flurries and snow showers Saturday. Sunday will not be quite as cold with some sunshine and highs in the upper 20s and the warm up will continue into next week. There could be some flurries or snow showers Monday then some freezing rain is possible Monday night. The next system will then cut to our west and bring rainfall on Tuesday.
