Hepatitis C or Hep C is an infection carried by the blood that can last a lifetime and lead to scarring of the liver or even liver cancer. Newer drugs are more effective at treating the disease, but it's important to detect it early .

How do you know if you have Hep C? Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center will hold a Hep C discussion on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at 5 pm in the Medical Center's Myron C. Williams conference room on the second floor of the Good Samaritan Building.

Health experts will answer questions about the illness and discuss how the disease is spread and how those living with Hepatitis C can help prevent others from contracting the disease.

The discussion is free and open to the public.  For more information, call (814) 534-1506.
