HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY - State Police announced Wednesday they will provide resources to assist with Groundhog Day security.

In a recent newspaper article there was speculation that due to budget cuts state police would not be on hand at the festivities February 2nd.

State Police say it is not the case, and they will be providing the same amount of officers they did in 2012.

Members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club and of the Inner Circle say safety is always a top priority.

This year with February 2, falling on a Saturday they expects upwards of 30,000 people.
