Updated: January 2, 2013
December ended up being a warm and wet month compared to the long term averages. The beginning of the month was warm and we reached a high for the month of 62 on the 3rd. The end of the month was definitely more wintry with one night in the teens and snow falling on 8 of the last 11 days of the month. The lowest temperature of the month was 17 set on the 28th. Two storms brought more than 5" of snow each one that extended from 26th into the 27th and then another the 29th into the 30th.

Here is how the month stacked up to the historical averages (based on Altoona):

8th Warmest with an average temperature of 36.4. The warmest was 1931 with a temperature of 38.

12th Wettest with 4.18" of precipitation. The wettest was 1941 with 6.01".
