DUBOIS, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Ben Rossi Jeweler opened in 1963.

"With 5 kids and $5,000 he opened the business" said John Rossi of his father.

This year marks their golden anniversary. They have battled through the ever changing economy.

"The economy being in the trouble that it was and jewelry being a luxury item you kind of pay the price " he said.

In recent years, people have gone from buying gold to selling their old, but somethings never change. People are still getting engaged and this is a busy time of year for ring buying.

For businesses that bank on the bridal buck hearing there was a good bridal engagement sales season means they will likely have a good season too.

"A lot of the engagements that have taken place in the last six weeks now they are getting serious after the holidays are over to start coming in and looking for the dress" said Dori Samanka of Trousseaux Bridal in DuBois.

Within 2 hours on Wednesday she already had helped two newly engaged brides to be.
