Track Santa on Christmas Eve

By: Meteorologist Steve Newton
Updated: December 24, 2012
For more than 50 years, volunteers at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado answer phones as NORAD tracks Santa on his journey around the world. When the program started, the volunteers answered phones and they still do today. This year they've answered tens of thousands of phone calls from children asking where Santa is.

But NORAD isn't the only group tracking him. In 2004, Google got into the Santa Tracking businesses, using their Google Maps technology to let people know where Saint Nick is each Christmas Eve.
