Anthony Sassano will be taking over as the regional director for the Attorney General's office. His predecessor, Randy Feathers recently left that position for one on the state board of probation and parole.
This comes just 6 months after Sassano helped secure Jerry Sandusky's lengthy prison sentence for molesting 10 boys.
Sassano stayed behind the scenes with attorney James McGettigan serving as the face of the state's case, but Sassano is credited with spending countless hours tracking down victims and retracing Sandusky's steps in the years the abuse was happening.
Sassano said at Sandusky's trial that he read through numerous TV Guides to determine exactly when Mike McQueary saw Sandusky assault a boy in a locker room shower. McQueary said he was watching the movie 'Rudy', but could not recall when.
Sassano is a former Altoona Police officer.
