Fewer Deaths at Pa Hospitals

The Hospital Performance Report, released by the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council shows the a number of people dying in Pa. hospitals dropped significantly between 2007 and 2011 for four conditions.
They include pneumonia-aspiration, colo-rectal procedures, kidney and urinary tract infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
However in western Pennsylvania, as a whole, hospitals had a significantly higher death rate than the rest of the state for congestive heart failure and pneumonia.
That was not the case for hospitals in our region, where patients fared better.
