Commissioners met with livid seniors Tuesday morning.
"What about your salaries- can't you make cuts there," yelled one senior.
Commissioners said nothing is final until they vote Friday, but Nanty Glo Senior Community Center they claim has the lowest number in attendance.
"We have spent the past year looking at this," said Douglas Lengenfelder, (R ) President Cambria County Commissioner. "We had a consultant help to look at every avenue."
"This is our center," said Shirley Kovach, a member. "Why are we being penalized - because we are old?"
"We see the concern on the faces of the people who come here and know they like to come here," said M. Veil Griffith, Administrator, Area Agency on Aging. "We are offering alternatives, but in a time of shrinking resources difficult decisions have to be made."
"We should be looking at ways to rally behind our seniors," said Tom Chernisky (D) Commissioner. "I believe we have the right number of centers for now."
"This is really sad," said Kovach.
