LOGAN TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY - Police Departments all over the country are warning shoppers that the start of the holiday shopping season also means more opportunities for parking lot crime. Shoppers are urged to take steps to protect themselves and all of the gifts they are buying.
Logan Township Police are on patrol around the clock, and major shopping areas in the region feature their own security forces so shoppers have every right to feel safe. Still there are steps that should be taken to make sure that they do not become a victim of a pre-holiday theft.
Parking lot theft is almost always a crime of opportunity according to the experts. If you want to keep control of the presents you purchase, the experts say the best thing you can do it keep your packages out of sight. Other shoppers say they just never leave their purchases alone.
Patrol officers who investigate thefts from cars say the use of locks and trunks can go a long way toward protecting those holiday purchases. Police say shoppers should always be aware of their surroundings, and be careful with their wallet or purse.

Have a blanket in your car at all times, It can be a lifesaver if you breakdown or get stuck in the winter, AND it is handy for covering up packages that have to be left in view. SUV, Van and Station wagon owners especially as they don't have a trunk need to do this, but comes in handy for anyone who's filled their trunk and are still shopping.
Sure thieves will still know you have something, but if they can't see what it is they would be less likely to break in just to find out.
