Hurricane Sandy - Information for Clearfield County

By: WTAJ Staff
Updated: October 27, 2012
CLEARFIELD-The Clearfield County Commisioners along with the Clearfield County Department of Emergency Services, suggests citizens prepare for the possibility of severe weather. Director of Emergency Services Joe Bigar advises  that current storm modeling predicts the possibility of 6 to 8 inches of rain, high winds and the possibility of 2.5 inches of snow in the western part of Clearfield County. Storms this late in the year with no vegetation to absorb ground water will have a higher impact on communities. In addition, leaves will clog storm drains from water run off and may create local flooding. Citizens should have an emergency kit in their home and car and provisions to last 72 hours. Preparedness plans should include: flashlights, extra batteries, portable radios, first aid kits, essential medicines, cash, identification and legal documents.

From the Borough of Clearfield Police Department - Due to the upcoming storm, Clearfield Borough Police want to advise residents that flooded roadways are expected. Residents are asked to assist the Borough by removing leaves from all inlet grates. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
