Lightning Strike Kills Mother and Unborn Child

SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, SOMERSET COUNTY -A lightning strike kills a Somerset County woman and her unborn child.

It happened around 11:00 Tuesday morning in Summit Township. State police Mary Yoder was picking berries with her family when a storm kicked up. She hid under a tree and was struck by lightning. The 36 year old woman was nine months pregnant.

State police out of Somerset are investigating, but consider the death accidental at this time.
