CLEARFIELD, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - 500 fish went into the West Branch of the Susquehanna at Elliot's Park Thursday morning.

"You have from the Hyde bridge to this other bridge. Roughly, 6 miles continuous that's stocked by the state and by us" said Patrick Domico, of Squirell Tails for trout.

The West branch is now a great spot for trout fishing and Saturday it is expected hundreds of people will be out fishing.

"Opening day is more of a family tradition a lot of people have done it for generations; it's not always about how much you catch it's about being together" said Terry Malloy of Jim's Sports Center.

All Domico asks is that fishers keep it clean.

"Take what you need and enjoy eating it, but don't litter and don't destroy anyone's property. That's all we ask because it's for the families" he said.
