The Organization's annual spring chicken barbecue will be held on Sunday, April 1'st from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers of the event expect to serve about 1700 carry out chicken dinners. The chicken will be cooked by volunteers at three different community clubs. All of the dinners will be assembled and distributed at the Food for Families Soup Kitchen at 2201 Union Avenue in Altoona.
The $7 dollar dinners each contain 1/2 chicken, potato salad applesauce and a roll. Homemade baked good will also available for sale. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the Soup Kitchen. The annual spring barbecue has become one of the organizations biggest fund-raisers of the year. Tickets for the dinners are still available at the Saint Vincent DePaul Office on Union Avenue or by calling 944-4357 between 7 a.m. and 1p.m. Last year's event was so successful the chicken dinners completely sold out before the event was scheduled to conclude.
