CLEARFIELD, CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Twice-Convicted Murderer Andrew Callahan took the stand on Wednesday morning to testify in his own defense.

Callahan is accused of shooting and killing Micah Pollock in the Pine Run Area of Clearfield County in 1997.

Callahan admitted to shooting Pollock, but he told the court that it was an accident.

Callahan said that they were partying in the Pine Run Area on the night of November 5, 1997.

He said that he had taken a combination of hallucinogenic drugs that included LSD.  He said that he was playing with a shotgun, but he didn't know that it was loaded.  He told the court that he was joking around when he pulled the trigger and shot Pollock in the back.

Callahan also admitted to trying to hide Pollock's body in some bushes.  He said he then came back and dragged his body into a nearby lake.  That's where investigators found his body.

Callahan was convicted of murder in 1998 and then again in 2007.  Both convictions were later thrown out because the jury received improper instructions, and Callahan was granted two re-trials.

The third murder trial of Callahan started on Monday.  The prosecution rested its case on Wednesday morning.

The defense then called Callahan to the stand; he's the only witness for the defense.
