SALEM, WESTMORELAND COUNTY - Westmoreland County authorities have ruled a motorcyclist who died Friday night actually committed suicide.

Investigators originally thought William Amos, 47, died when his motorcycle struck a deer on Route 819 in Salem around 1 a.m. However, a pistol was discovered at the scene and a subsequent autopsy confirmed that Amos died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

No further information has been released.
