Mansion League Heat

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - The refs at the Mansion Park Summer League in Altoona battled some of the worst heat in a decade, just to make the call.

Skip Dry has seen his share of hot days in more than three decades of reffing at the Mansion Park Summer Leagues.

Dry says it’s the hottest he can remember, but all the teams are still showing up.  He says most of them are adjusting to the weather and not sprinting quite as much.

Chris Amerine has been playing in the league for 19 years. He says it's hot but it's fun to get together and play a game with friends.

But for Dry it’s a full day's work. He says some of the guys don’t realize they come out and run for an hour, but he and the other refs are out here for 5 games.

Amerine says he keeps that in mind while he's on the court.
