EBENSBURG, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- The northeast is having a heat wave and medical experts urge people to take safety precautions.

One person in Cambria County had suffered from heat exhaustion over the weekend.  That’s why Dr. Scott Magley said the best thing people can do during a heat wave is to drink plenty of fluids.

“People should be drinking extra water, staying hydrated is key to preventing any heat related symptoms,” said Magley.

Magley also suggest that people wear light clothing and stay in the shade.

Ebensburg Animal Hospital also urges pet owners to keep a close on eye on their pets.  Veterinarian Brady Hamady said it is just as important for humans to stay hydrated during hot days as it is animals.

“Make sure your pets have plenty of water and are kept either in the shade or inside a cool area,” said Hamady.
