CRESSON, CAMBRIA COUNTY---Cresson Ambulance Association is just one of many companies in the county not being paid for their emergency services.  Companies rely on patients to pay their bills to remain operating.  Some insurance carriers pay the ambulance service directly but some send the check to the patient first to then send it on.  Recently, Cresson Ambulance Service has seen an increase in those not passing the check on, and it is beginning to add up.

“You have to pay your electric and phone bill or it will be turned off.  For us, (Cresson Ambulance Association) we can’t turn off our service.  But if people continue not to pay- eventually we may not be able to be here,” said Marian Slebodnick an office manager with Cresson Ambulance Association.

A bill is currently being looked at in the state house of representatives that would require insurance companies to send the check directly to the medical providers.
