PITTSBURGH, ALLEGHENY COUNTY  --  The National Hockey League is expected to announce today that Heinz Field in Pittsburgh will be the site of the 2011 NHL Winter Classic.

According to TSN of Canada, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins will host Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.  The contest is rumored to be played on New Year's Day.  The Pens were involved in the inaugural Winter Classic against the Buffalo Sabres at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York.  The Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park in Boston in this year's game.

Meantime, TSN also reports the Calgary Flames will host the Montreal Canadiens outdoors at McMahon Stadium sometime in February.
