HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - The Blair County Assessment office is in line for an expensive make-over.  The effort is expected to pay off for anyone who buys or sells property in the county.
Blair County currently keeps property records the same way the county did  about one  hundred years ago.
But that will soon be changing. The Assessment office in the basement of the Blair County Courthouse is where all property  records in the county are kept up to date.   The current system of recording property information  is about to become part of  the county's  history.   County  leaders have agreed to  take the first step in an assessment office upgrade  that will put all of the county property records on line and make them  more available. The year  long project is expected to cost about  $335 thousand  according to Blair County Commissioner Terry Tomassetti.   But County leaders say they should be able to pay for the effort without a tax increase.  The Blair County  officials  hope to have the new computerized  assessment system in operation  by about this time next year.
