With just the click of a mouse, you can help plant a new tree in Pennsylvania.
The national “Plant a Tree” campaign by Odwalla Fruit Juice will donate $200,000 to plant trees nationwide, and Pennsylvania is competing for a share of that money.
DCNR is asking you to visit the contest web site, and for every vote for Pennsylvania, the state parks will receive $1 towards planting trees.
Park officials say this is an important program to maintain our beautiful forests.
“As out forests mature, we have to start replacing those younger understory trees, so this is a great program to keep them going for future generations,” said Parker Dam Park Manager Beth Grove.
Voting begins on Tuesday, May 25, and will remain open until the money is gone, but you may want to vote early. Last year only nine states were involved, and the contest lasted less than two weeks. This year all 50 states are in the running.
To give Pennsylvania your vote, go to the contest web site starting Monday.
