ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Operation Save a Life has been dubbed a success in Altoona.  The goal of local firefighters is to give out 5,500 smoke detectors to people who need them in 6 nearby counties.  A firefighter comes to your home and installs them.  Altoona Fire Marshal Randy Isenberg said it's worked well in his assigned territory.  Nearly all of the 800 smoke detectors have been installed in homes.
