HARRISBURG - When it comes to spending stimulus dollars, Pennsylvania seems to be leading the way.  According to  Governor Ed Rendell,  Pennsylvania   is the second highest ranking state when it comes to  spending  millions of dollars  available  through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The Governor  says  that 's a big deal because Pennsylvania has received a total of  $994 million  in stimulus funding  to boost  the economy with transportation improvement  programs.
The Governor says that more than 99 %  of that money is for projects that are already out for bid,  under contract, or under construction.
The Governor say with that much federal money flowing  into the State,  people are being put back to work.
While debate over the stimulus effort continues in Washington D.C., in Pennsylvania the Governor say the program is having a big effect.

Governor Rendell went on to point out that most of the stimulus funding has been going to what he called smaller companies  with one hundred or fewer employees.  The Governor called that one more way the Federal Stimulus program is helping smaller business get through some  tough financial times.
