HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY -   Concerns are growing across the state and nation about the funding available for  public employee pension plans.   The Blair County Commissioners recently completed a review of their County's  retirement system.  Following their weekly Courthouse meeting on Tuesday, the  County leaders said  that the Blair   County  pension  fund  falls into the "minimally stressed" condition.

That means that while additional funding may be required for the pension plan in future years,   the Blair County plan has better financial support than many other  public employee retirement plans.   Commissioner Terry Tomassetti went on to say  that Blair County  officials will likely have to increase their   contributions to its pension fund in coming years.   But he says  the county fund is in much better shape than many other public pension  plans in Pennsylvania and that includes those  under the control of  school districts and the State of Pennsylvania.
