JOHNSTOWN - It's the only one of its kinds in Central Pennsylvania. The Sitting Bulls are a local minor league hockey team comprised of athletes who have medical conditions that limit their recreational options.
The Sitting Bulls are a youth sled hockey team. Boys and girls ages 6 to 20 can play for the team.
The Sitting Bulls go to tournaments throughout the Eastern United States and Canada. The team practices once a week.
The team is affiliated with the U.S. Hockey National Team. It's the only sled hockey team in the region, so they don't play in a league.
Coach Brian Buckovich hopes that places like State College, DuBois and Altoona can soon form teams and give the Sitting Bulls some local competitio, but more importantly, Buckovich wants to give more children with disabilities the opportunity to play hockey.
WTAJ News Anchor Patrick Schurr had the opportunity to talk to several members of the Sitting Bulls, and he even laced up the skates and practiced with them.
