Record Number of DUI Arrests in 2009

HARRISBURG - A record, 16,900 people were arrested by the Pennsylvania State Police for Driving Under the Influence in 2009, but in Central Pennsylvania the numbers don't follow the same trend as the rest of the state.
Troopers made 16,900 DUI arrests in 2009, an increase of 4% over the 16,156 DUI arrests made in 2008.
In 2007, there were 15,654 DUI arrests recorded across the state, and in 2006, there were 15,150.
In Central Pennsylvania, the numbers don't follow the trend of the rest of the state. Here are the number of DUI arrests, reported by State Troopers, Across Central Pennsylvania:
- 2009: 1,926
- 2008: 1,888
- 2007: 2,097
- 2006: 2,150
