Man Gets Life In Prison

INDIANA, INDIANA COUNTY--- Joshua Turner who was convicted of first degree murder and aggravated assault gets life in prison for the death of a toddler.

Turner was found guilty last week for beating, biting and strangling 19-month old Leonard W. McIntire III.

Turner was to be sentenced to life in prison or receive the death penalty. The prosecution would have to prove Turner was mentally retarded in order to get the death penalty.

After two days and about two house of deliberation, the jury said the prosecution did not prove Turner was not mentally retarded beyond reasonable doubt.  Thy recommended him to life in prison.

Little L,J’s family was disappointed with the jury’s decision.

“I don’t think we got justice for L.J., we only got partial justice for him,” said Penny Shirley, the victim’s step grandmother.

Turner will be formerly sentenced in May.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! He should have been given the death penalty, he didn't care about that poor baby, why should anyone care if he is mentally retarded or not. . .he should be put in a "private" room with a group of mothers and let justice be served by them!!!!!!
