Fugitive of the Week

CLEARFIELD - Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw Jr. announced the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week, on April 26th.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Jeffrey R. Powell, 65, Country Club Rd., Clearfield, Clearfield County.

Shaw said that Powell is wanted for failure to appear at Sentencing Court on February 10, 2009.

On March 21, 2008, an Affadavit of Probably Cause states at at about 4:48 p.m., the Lawrence Township Police Department responded to a head-on crash.  Powell was driving a 2000 Ford pick-up truck on Washington Ave., in Hyde.  He collided with a 1996 Hyundai.  A mother and her four sons, ages 3 to 6, were all in the Hyundai at the time of the crash.  They were all treated for injuries.

Powell was charged with Aggravated Assault by Vehicle while DUI, DUI, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and other traffic violations.

On May 28, 2008, Powell waived all charges to court.  He was supposed to be sentencing on February 10, 2009, but he never showed up in court.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

 Powell is described as follows:

  • Race:  White
  • Gender:  Male
  • Height:  5'6"
  • Eyes:  Blue
  • Hair:  Brown
