PENN HILLS, PENNSYLVANIA --  A Penn Hills, Pennsylvania teen is being called the ultimate "Apple Hater" after a video showing him smashing his brand new iPad went viral on YouTube.

19 year old Justin Kocott used the $500.00 he earned shoveling snow this winter to purchase the new gadget when it first went on sale Saturday, April 3rd.

The Penn Hills High School senior then promptly smashed his purchase with a baseball bat outside a Best Buy store.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have watched the YouTube video.  When asked what his motivation was, Kocott only said he wanted to be the first person to smash an iPad.

I'm 19 and throwing $500 at the company "I hate" doesn't bother me at all. I know I could've bought something useful, but it's better to be YouTube famous.

Clearly the kid is not bright, though I doubt he's really an "Apple Hater" as the article suggests. If he were, then he'd be even not bright-er since he basically just handed Steve Jobs $500 and gave Apple one less product to provide support for. I personally could care less about the perceived waste of money, though. True, it may have been better spent on charity, but there's no way this kid's doing that. We should just be thankful that he spent this money on something that won't hurt anyone. He could've just as easily bought drugs or a gun; at least he spent his snow-shoveling dough on something that might help improve the economy. Hey kid, you better get a summer job, the new iPhone's coming out........

First off... This kid is obviously an idiot.
Second off... Daniel Tosh (a comedian) smashed an iPad about a month ago on his show on comedy central.
Epic fail.

I agree with you Denny. This kid is an idiot and has no appreciation for the value of a dollar. If he didn't want the money he should have donated it to a charity or given it to someone that really needed it. This kid acts like a spoiled little brat. If he was my son I would be completely embarrassed by his actions....but then my son would never do something like this in the first place, he knows better.

This kid is an idiot! Its a shame that he finds it fun to spend $500 just to smash it! Why not just light the money on fire or flush it down the toilet! Honestly, the fact that he has no respect for the value of money is disgusting! Some people can barely afford to feed themselves and then you have an idiot like this! What a shame!
