FERGUSON TOWNSHIP, CENTRE COUNTY- Bank of America confirmed Friday they are closing a call center near State College.

The company is not releasing many details, but did give WTAJ News this statement, "Workforce reductions associated with the State College site closure are part of previously announced plans for 30,000 to 35,000 position reductions over a three year period throughout the bank's footprint. The decision, which was not an easy one, was made following an extensive analysis to determine the most effective and efficient site strategy to support the Customer Assistance business.

The total number of associates affected by the site closure will be made available during the state and local official notification process, which will occur next week.

The site exit will occur over the next few months. We are committed to assisting associates impacted by this decision, which includes offering outplacement support services."
