Five area Young Women honored as "Rising Stars"

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Five rising stars will be honored for giving an artful facelift to a community treasure.

Julie, Christina, Marie, Brigid and Jaci decided to refurbish the Mishler Theatre's basement dressing room  for their Girl Scout's Gold Award project.

Next week, they'll be honored for their 11 weeks of hard creative  work as they become this year's " Rising Stars " at the WISE Women of Blair County's Tribute dinner.

Their troop leader hopes this community gift is just the beginning.   Paula Hall explains, "I hope that this isn't the last project that they do of this magnitude. I hope that through their life continue and do things for their communities."

The Gold Award is the highest honor in Girl Scouting.
In all these young women spent over 600 hours refurbishing the Mishler.

They'll be honored at the dinner , Tuesday, April 6th at the Casino at Lakemont.
