When the State Department employee organizing the trip Googled “water resources research,” he found a documentary the university produced and promptly planned the trip to PSU.
That documentary, Liquid Assets, first debuted on Penn State Public Broadcasting a year and a half ago.
The Chinese group watched the film, which focuses on Americas aging water infrastructure. The group then talked about the documentary included resources to engage the public in America’s water problems. Later this year, a group of Americans will tour mainland China to discover how they are tackling water use obstacles.
In the meantime, Penn State staff members said this is an incredible opportunity to showcase the university to an international audience.
“These are young people from China, emerging leaders who now have a connection with Penn State, a very positive experience knowing that we have great research here,” Elaine Bryzski, Liquid Assets Outreach Coordinator, said.
The Chinese group also toured Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences this afternoon.
